Alluvial Plume is an interactive landscape application which visualizes the mixing waters of the Fraser River and Salish Sea. The interface between these bodies of water can be seen as both a dance through daily tidal cycles and a pulsing heartbeat of annual watershed conditions. This river delta and shallow sea are connected by a bidirectional flow of nutrients, as well as marine vessels which traverse through this region. Alluvial Plume utilizes river flow rate and sea surface current data to generate an artistic model of the Fraser River Plume. This exploratory data art application allows viewers to experience the cyclical interconnections between the Fraser River and the Salish Sea as well as the anthropogenic context of the Vancouver region.
